Theodore
Starck Jr.
September 28, 1938 – March 25, 2026
Theodore Harland Starck was born on September 28, 1938, in Berthoud, Colorado, to Theodore Starck Sr. and Emma (Krenning) Starck. He moved to Windsor, Colorado, as a young boy, where he grew up and spent his life deeply rooted in family, hard work, and service to his community.
At the age of 17, Theodore enlisted in the United States Navy, proudly serving his country for four years. During his service, he traveled throughout the South Seas, spending time in Japan and Hawaii—experiences he carried with him for the rest of his life.
Following his honorable discharge in 1959, Theodore returned home and went to work for Monfort Packing as a meat cutter, a skill he took great pride in and carried throughout his life. In 1974, he and his brother Ed founded Star Contracting, later joined by their brother Bill. Together, they built a successful family business, starting with custom homes and later specializing in custom horse barns and post-frame buildings. In 2003, the three brothers retired and sold the business.
Theodore met Erma Martin through his large circle of friends, and they were married in 1963. Together, they raised three children: Kirk, Rhonda, and Jackie. They later divorced in 1981. In 1986, he married Kathy Uhrich, blending families and welcoming her daughters, Tammy and Teri. Kathy preceded him in death in 2023.
A man devoted to his community, Theodore joined the Windsor Fire Department in 1965, a volunteer department founded by his father. He served for 27 years, including four years as Fire Chief. Even after retiring in 1992, he continued serving on the fire board for several years. He was immensely proud of his time as a firefighter and his lifelong commitment to Windsor.
Theodore loved the outdoors and treasured time spent fishing and camping with his family, especially in Wyoming at the Miracle Mile. Elk hunting was a cherished annual tradition for over three decades, shared with his close friends and his son Kirk. He also found great joy in his woodworking shop, creating beautiful cutting boards, quilt racks, and many other custom pieces.
He had a passion for old cars and owned many throughout his life, but he was especially proud of his 1971 Ford Bronco, which he lovingly restored alongside his oldest grandson, Dustin. Theodore also had a deep appreciation for antiques, particularly collecting old oil-burning lamps and building an impressive collection over the years.
Known for his remarkable memory, Theodore had an incredible knowledge of Windsor’s history and took great pride in the role the Starck family played in shaping the town. He was proud to have spent his life in the community he loved.
Above all, Theodore cherished his time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren—they were truly the light in his eyes.
Theodore passed into heaven on March 25, 2026. He will be deeply missed by his family and all who knew him.
He is survived by his children: Kirk Starck (Andrea), Rhonda (Brett), and Jackie (Scott); stepdaughters Tammy (Sam) and Teri; grandchildren Dustin Fisher (Katie), Dillon Starck, Derek Jacoby, Gunnar Jacoby, Cooper Sandquist, Baylee Sandquist, Kendall Ghent (Erik), Julian Chavez, Saliz Chavez, and Jayden Bertram; great-grandchildren Theodore Fisher, Wrenley Alarid, Lux Gabala, and Quincy Ghent; brothers Edward Starck (JoAnn) and Robert Starck (Claudine); many nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog and constant companion, Gigi.
A funeral service will be held to celebrate Theodore’s life at Bethel Lutheran Church, 328 Walnut Street, Windsor, Colorado, on April 9, 2026, at 10:30 AM.
