Thad B Rogers

March 24, 1942 — July 26, 2024

Thorton

Born to Ollie Kenneth Rogers and Madolyn Emogene (Eberle) Rogers, Thad grew up in Fort Collins, CO. as an only child. He was raised by his father and his grandmother, Elizabeth Rogers. Thad is survived by his three children: Kenny, Kristina and David, his six grandchildren: Kimber, Brandon, Aidan, Sean, Hunter and Peyton, and by his great-grandson, Theo.

As a youngster, Thad was an avid boy scout, which contributed to his love of rock hounding. His house was surrounded by and filled with many beautiful specimens such as petrified wood, quartz, jasper and agate to name a few. Every rock pile within the neighborhood and local shopping centers had been picked over. These rocks were often polished in the rock tumbler, and this love of rock hounding has been passed along to his children and grandchildren. In high school Thad played football as well as the trumpet. He earned the privilege as a HS student to play with the CSU marching band. After HS, Thad joined the Army and was proud to be a part of the 101st Airborne. At the Street Bazaar Thad met Kathy. They had a date one week later at the Larimer County Fair, and she later became his wife. Thad received a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from CSU and proceeded to work for Public Service Company for most of his working years. Many of the electrical substations around town were designed by him, and he would proudly point out them all to us as we would drive by. Thad’s hobbies included wood working with a workshop in the basement of the house, and it smelled of cut wood. He participated in Judo tournaments and earned his brown belt. He loved reading and could finish off a book within a couple of hours.

Thad could strike up a conversation anywhere, with anyone and on any topic. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, whether it was helping them with homework, working on projects, playing games, taking them to the movies, or having deep conversations. Thad loved his family and was always there to provide or lend an ear. His presence will be deeply missed, but his love will shine through each of us. May we honor his life by remembering the kindness and love he gave us.
