Martha Ann (Oakes) Hord; daughter of Walter Frank and Tunis Evelyn (Alley) Oakes; beloved wife of Jesse Hord for 65 years; devoted mother of Cheryl Ann, Karen Lynne, and Kevin Taylor; loving grandmother of Katie & Lizzie & Will Kassab, Emma & Abbie & Lanie Sandquist, and Molly & Sam & Callum Hord; and dear sister of Walter Carroll, Naomi Edith, Barbara Sue, Patsy Ruth, George Emory, Rosalie, and Fred Eugene Oakes.
Martha was born in South Williamson, KY and graduated from Williamson (WV) High School in 1952 and from the University of KY in 1958.
She married Jesse Hord in CA in 1956 and taught school at Reseda (CA) High School from 1959-1960. Jesse & Martha moved to Boulder, CO in 1961 and Martha was a substitute teacher in the Boulder school system.
Jesse & Martha relocated to Windsor, CO in 1998 and continued to enjoy the great CO outdoors, mountains, hiking, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing. Martha also enjoyed numerous projects relying on her skills in sewing, knitting, and crocheting. She will be lovingly missed by family and fondly remembered by friends.
