Margaret Grace Newcomb

Margaret Grace Newcomb finished her race well and entered into the arms of Jesus on Thursday, November 24, 2022 at the age of 82. 

Margaret was born in Trinidad, Colorado to parents Shelby and Verla Hancock on October 25th, 1940. Now a little sister to Helen, their loving family was complete. She was a beloved student at Trinidad High School where she graduated in 1958. 

Margaret was a cherished and loving mother to Carri, Von, and Craig. She was a devoted and warmhearted grandmother to Paul, Troy, Trent, Josiah, Anna, Jessie and was so happy when she became a great-grandmother to Lawrence and Matthias.

Verla, her mother, had been a teacher and instilled a love of reading and great appreciation for books that Margaret passed down to her own children and grandchildren. Throughout her life she regularly made trips to the public library, coming home with a stack of books she happily read in her favorite chair. As her children grew into adulthood she discovered a new passion that became a source of great fulfillment in her life. She began volunteering at Heritage Christian Preschool where she eventually joined the staff permanently, and remained with them as the school transitioned to Harmony School. She continued teaching, ministering to families and leading staff Bible studies at the school for more than two decades before retiring in 2013. 

Margaret was a faithful member of First Baptist/LifePointeChurch for over 50 years. Her faith and walk with God were the focus and cornerstone to her life - she spent decades involved with Bible Study Fellowship, leading Bible studies and ministering to people about the love of God in her beloved Colorado community. 

She will be remembered by her friends and family as a devoted Christian, living a life of faith who loved her family with all of her heart and a was strong independent woman that lived a full life serving as an inspiration to all that knew her.

Margaret was preceded in death by her mother Verla, father Shelby, step-father Jullian, sister Helen, and son-in-law Gary. She is survived by her 3 children; son Von Newcomb (Dellene), daughter Carri Mahaffey, and son Craig Newcomb (Jessica). Grandchildren Paul Mahaffey, Troy Mahaffey, Trent Mahaffey, Josiah Newcomb (Gabriella), Anna Newcomb, Jessie Newcomb; and great-grandchildren Lawrence and Matthias Newcomb.

Services will be held on Saturday, December 3, 2022 at LifePointe Church in Fort Collins beginning at 1:30pm. 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be sent to Harmony School to continue the ministry of the school which Margaret was so dedicated to.
