Lorraine Kozlovsky

August 18, 1927 — September 6, 2023

Lorraine A. Kozlovsky, 96, of Windsor, Colorado, died Wednesday, September 6,
after a brief illness. She was born August 18, 1927, the daughter of Otto and Elsie
(Treptow) Polzin, in Peshtigo, Wisconsin.
Lorraine was a woman of rare fortitude and a strong sense of duty, marked by a
lifelong faith in her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and a great love for her family.
Growing up during the Depression, she was forced to shoulder adult burdens at the
young age of 11, taking over the cooking and cleaning for the family, and helping
on the farm when her mother became seriously ill. Upon her mother’s recovery,
she went to work at the age of 14 to help her family. She married Irvin Kozlovsky
on June 1, 1946, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Peshtigo, Wisconsin. The couple
moved to Shawano and raised a family of five children: Keith (Jeanne) Kozlovsky,
Karen Rochon, Kathy (Peter) Mitten, and Kelly (Bill) Bixby. She was preceded in
death by a daughter, Kim Marks; a grandson, Jason Kozlovsky; her parents; her
sister, Lucille Dittmann; and her husband Irvin, for whom she cared devotedly until
his death from Pick’s Disease in 2006. She was blessed with 10 grandchildren:
Keith (Kristie) Kozlovsky; Jeremy (Erica) Tomaras, Amber and Lindsay Tomaras;
Cara Mitten, Jacob (Rachael) Mitten; Megan (Nicky) Sutter, Kyle (Melanie)
Marks; Samantha Bixby, and Emma (Ryan) Behl. Great-grandchildren are:
Kristina, Kamaria, and Krisalyn Kozlovsky; Bridger Tomaras; Cal and Evie
Mitten; and Eden Behl; and one great-great-grandchild, Alani Kozlovsky.
In 1965, Irvin and Lorraine moved to Waupaca, Wisconsin, where they owned and
operated the Culligan Water Conditioning Company. Lorraine worked in the office
until they sold the business and retired in 1987. She faced breast cancer bravely
and overcame it, setting an example of courage for all those who knew her.
Following Irvin’s death, she moved to Windsor, Colorado, and enjoyed living near
her daughters Kim and Kelly. She was a faithful member of Shepherd of the Hills
Lutheran Church, in Greeley, Colorado, volunteering in various roles until the end
of her life. She was always very interested in people, and made many friends
everywhere she went. In earlier years, she enjoyed curling, playing golf, walking
and boating. She was a talented gardener, caring for her plants and flowers. She
loved reading, music, and playing cards, and was active in two bridge clubs. She
loved to laugh, to celebrate and have a good time, but she was happiest of all when spending special time with her family. To Lorraine, no visit was ever quite long
enough. Those of us who loved her feel the same about her time here on earth with
us.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, September 12, 2023, 2:00 PM at
Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in Greeley, Colorado. Following the
service, a light lunch will be served in the Fellowship Hall.
