Laura Louise McElhinney, born November 8, 1971, passed away on January 23, 2026. Laura was a devoted mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend whose life was defined by loyalty, kindness, and an unwavering commitment to those she loved.
Laura was the beloved mother of Bret McElhinney (wife Catherine) and Colton McElhinney (wife Maggie). She cared deeply for her sons and always wanted the very best for them, offering constant support, guidance, and unconditional love. She was a proud and devoted grandmother to Jackson, Harper, Clara, and Matthew, whom she cherished deeply and from whom she found immeasurable joy. Time spent with her grandchildren was among her greatest happiness.
She is also survived by her parents, Patricia and Steven Frick; her sister, Julie Becker; and her niece and nephew, Emma Becker and Corey Becker, all of whom she loved dearly. Laura was known for her selflessness and her willingness to care for anyone in need, often placing the needs of others before her own. Her heart for giving and her lifelong commitment to caring for those in need left a lasting impression on all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her older brother, Steven Don Frick Jr., and her husband Robert Slayden.
Laura was fiercely loyal, a good friend, and a hard worker who valued time spent with her loved ones above all else. She possessed a strong and vibrant personality, balanced by a gentle kindness and compassion that touched many lives. She had a deep love for her pets, Cha-Lee and Demi, who were truly part of her family. Laura also delighted in the things that brought her joy—especially everything pink and sparkly—which reflected her bright spirit and individuality.
