Gordon Margheim, 77, of Eaton (formerly of Windsor), Colorado, passed away peacefully on January 25, 2026, at Poudre Valley Hospital in Fort Collins after a long and courageous battle with cancer. A longtime member of Bethel Lutheran Church, he lived a life defined by faith, love, and family.
Gordon was born on February 26, 1948, in Greeley, Colorado, to George and Marie (Schmidt) Margheim. The youngest of ten children, he grew up in Windsor, Colorado, graduating in 1966 from Windsor High School.
On October 7, 1967, Gordon married Nancy Edwards, and together they shared 58 years of marriage. Gordon was drafted in 1968 into the United States Army and served two years in Germany.
Following his military service, Gordon returned to Colorado and resumed his career with IBM in Boulder, retiring after 30 years. Later, he pursued his passion for woodworking, building custom cabinets at Earthwoods Custom Cabinetry for over a decade. He deeply enjoyed building things and working with his hands.
Outside of work, Gordon loved fishing, camping, trips to Black Hawk, Polka music and dancing, spending time with his family, and his dogs, Samson and Willow. He was a big fan of the Broncos and Nuggets.
Gordon is survived by wife: Nancy Margheim; children: Jennifer (Margheim) Schwab (David), Grant Margheim (Nicole); grandson: Jack Margheim; sister: Gloria Koch; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents: George and Marie Margheim; sisters: Leona Walter, Marie Ruth Bopp, and Diana Tempelfeld; brothers: George Jr., Edward, Paul, Robert, and Daniel Margheim.
Gordon will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. His legacy lives on in his children and his grandson.
A Celebration of Life will be held: 10:30am, February 27, 2026 Bethel Lutheran Church328 Walnut Street Windsor, CO 80550
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Bethel Lutheran Church or The American Cancer Society in memory of Gordon Margheim.
