Duane Naylor

November 27, 1940 — March 21, 2024

Duane Leon Naylor was born in Callaway, Nebraska on November 27, 1940. He passed away peacefully March 21, 2024 at the age of 83 in Fort Collins, Colorado with his family by his side.

He began his career in the printing business at the age of 18 and never looked back. He lived in Columbus, Nebraska until 1980 when he moved to Loveland, Colorado. He ran sheetfed presses and later became Prepress and Press Room Manager. Duane had an exceptional work ethic and made sure things were done correctly the first time. He worked tirelessly to support and raise his two older sons, Jeff and Tim; then retired in 2004 to become a stay-at-home dad for his two younger sons, Brett and Aaron. He was a bit rough around the edges, but inside he was a mushy teddy bear who made sure his family had everything they needed, and that they were safe and cared for. Duane’s family never doubted his love for them–he loved deeply with his whole heart. He was a true gentleman–and his sons grew into amazing gentlemen as the result of his example.

Duane was an avid University of Nebraska Huskers fan as well. Although frustrated with the football program of late, he loyally watched the women’s volleyball and basketball teams play. Duane was also known as a “putzer”– he always had many projects going at the same time, and always had to be doing something. He was exceptional at fixing (and re-fixing) things on his own. Later in his retirement he began an ancestry family tree which has grown into thousands of family members all over the world. He connected with many of them and developed strong bonds. He worked on it for hours every week, and those connections meant everything to him.

He is survived by the love of his life and best friend of 33 years Peggy Naylor; sons Jeff (Miki) Naylor, Tim Naylor, Brett (Annmarie) Naylor and Aaron Naylor; four grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister.

A celebration of life will be scheduled later this summer.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Duane’s name be made to Pathways, either online at pathways-care.org or by mail: Pathways, 305 Carpenter Road, Fort Collins, CO, 80525.
