Cecilia Ann Cruz

November 25, 1940 – May 15, 2024

Cecilia Ann Cruz, fondly known as CC, passed away peacefully at the age of 83 on Tuesday, May 15, 2024, at Windsong at Northridge in Greeley, Colorado. Born on November 25, 1940, in San Helena, California, Cecilia was the cherished daughter of Jose and Etta Sanchez.

On April 17, 1960, she married her soulmate, John Agapito Cruz, in San Pablo, California. The couple shared a beautiful life together until John's passing. They moved to Windsor, Colorado, where CC became an integral part of the community for over five decades.

Cecilia dedicated her life to her family as a stay-at-home mom and later took on roles outside the home, working in the kitchen at Kodak of Colorado for eight years. She also co-owned a restaurant, where her love for cooking and hospitality shone through.

CC's legacy is one of unwavering family devotion, kindness, generosity, and a zest for life. She taught those around her the importance of being family-oriented, loving, and helping others. Known for her vibrant spirit, CC loved to dance and brought joy to every room she entered. Her hobbies included crocheting slippers and gardening, activities she approached with the same love and care she showed her family.

Her family was her greatest treasure. She cherished spending time with her grandchildren, engaging in crafts, outings to the park, and visits to the library. CC's nurturing spirit and boundless love made her a beloved figure to all who knew her. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

Cecilia is survived by her sons: Tony (Nora) Cruz, Alex Cruz, Marcus Cruz, and Gabe (Sandy) Cruz; daughters: Melanie (Jeremy) Groves and Rose (Kenny) Cruz; brothers: Joseph (Barb) Sanchez, Edward Sanchez, and Lawrence (Danielle) Sanchez; sisters: Gloria Bies and Rita Oliver; thirteen grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John Agapito Cruz; her parents, Jose and Etta Sanchez; her brother and brother in-laws, Jimmy (Eleanor) Sanchez, Ed Oliver, Byron Bies; her sister, Rose (Buddy) Thomas; and her grandson, Jonah Cruz.

Cecilia's life was a testament to the fruits of the Spirit as described in Galatians 5:22-23: Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, Gentleness, and Self-Control. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her.
