Listen to Obituary

Bret Hall passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his parents (George and Betty Hall); his beloved wife of 45 years (Julie Hall); his two sisters (Kitty Hall and Lori Masi); his four children and their spouses, Karly Saber (Christian), Audrey Klawiter (Cameron), Lisa White (Ryan), and John Hall (Jenny); and his nine beautiful grandchildren, who brought him endless joy.

Born on Valentine’s Day, 1958, Bret embodied the spirit of love and generosity every day of his life. He earned a degree in Construction Management from Colorado State University, and it was there that he met Julie, the love of his life. Together they built a marriage rooted in tenderness, love, and friendship.

After graduating, Bret joined his father at the family business, Hall-Irwin Construction. What began as a water and sewer pipeline company grew under their guidance into a thriving corporation. His career expanded to land development, concrete, water storage, gravel mining, and homebuilding. A natural leader and visionary, Bret had a gift for seeing potential in raw ground and transforming it into vibrant communities. His legacy lives on in the neighborhoods he helped create (River Ridge, Centennial Crossing, and Greenspire, to name a few). Bret served on the board of the Poudre River Trail and was deeply committed to projects that enhanced the natural beauty of Northern Colorado. His business acumen was matched by his deep integrity and humility. Employees, partners, and friends admired his enthusiasm, wisdom, steady ethics, and genuine kindness. He moved through difficulties with confidence and optimism, always managing to find a way forward.

Bret’s proudest legacy was his family. He and Julie raised four wonderful children. His grown children and grandchildren loved his magical storytelling, warm snuggles, thoughtful advice, and most of all, his pancakes. He nourished body and soul with his loving dedication and patient energy. Bret and Julie’s life was enriched by their lifelong friendships, travel, time outdoors, and simple meaningful moments.

Bret was quietly generous and deeply compassionate. He supported Casa Hogar Orphanage in Chihuahua, the Boys & Girls Club, Elshadai CDO in Ethiopia and many other causes close to his heart.

Those who knew Bret remember his patience, playfulness, humility, and steadfast love. His children called him a “baby whisperer,” but truly, he was a whisperer of all things good and true—a listener, a mentor, a caregiver, and a gentle guide to everyone lucky enough to know him. Bret’s life was a testament to love and kindness—a steady heartbeat that will echo in the lives he touched for generations to come.
