Barbara Crossman Cargo, age 89, passed away on Thursday, May 4, 2023 in Windsor
Colorado. Born in Detroit, Michigan, she graduated from the University of Michigan
(education) and later received a Masters’ degree from Syracuse University. She retired
from the Syracuse City School District in 1999 after teaching Pre-Kindergarten for 25
years, 21 of those years at Franklin School. She was an active member of the
University United Methodist Church, sang baritone with the Note-A-Bells Barbershop
Chorus and the Oasis Chorus, danced with the international Folk Dancers of Syracuse,
and exercised at the Jewish Community Center. She enjoyed traveling extensively,
gardening, sewing and playing croquet. Barbara is survived by her loving husband of 67
years, Jerry; a son, Jim (Mary) and a grandson, Alex, of Windsor CO; a daughter, Ellen
Doersam (Dean) of Deep River, CT; a sister, Anne Zwemer (Fred) of Traverse City, MI;
plus nieces and nephews and their families.
