Allen A Ehrlich

October 24, 1937 — April 19, 2023

Greeley

Mr. Allen A. Ehrlich, 85, found his wings and joined Christ 19 Apr. 2023. He was born 24 Oct. 1937 in Fort
Collins, Colorado to Alexander and Eva Ehrlich and was the first generation born in the US to Russian-
German Immigrants.
Allen moved to the Greeley area in 1954 where began work as a mechanic and he taught welding at
Greeley High School. On 8 Jul. 1956, Allen married Betty Joan Collins, and they had three children. Allen
joined the military in 1956 and served in the Colorado Army and Air National Guard for a combined total
of 17 years 8 months and 21 days. Allen was known at local automotive repair shops for his frame and
front-end repair expertise. After 21 years as a mechanic, he was called back to his roots and returned to
farming in the Galeton and Gill area. Allen’s upbringing cultivated his love for farming and inspired him
to modernize and improve upon the farming industry. He raised feedlot calves and began a cow-calf
herd. Allen was quite a craftsman and even built his own farming equipment. He was a member of the
Galeton Lion’s Club, The Bean Growers Association, and the Dekalb Yield Master’s Club. Allen got his
private pilot license and loved flying. He also enjoyed playing cards, reminiscing with his brother and
sisters, and early morning coffee with his buddies and family gatherings at the Country Inn. In 2008, he
met a new love Arlene, and they enjoyed years of polka dancing and gambling trips together.
Allen is survived by Arlene Buxbaum; three children, Michael [Patti] Ehrlich, Timothy [Lori] Ehrlich, and
Judy [Grant] Ruff; three siblings, Jeanette Willox, Charles [Delores] Ehrlich, and Joyce Schneider; seven
grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his
wife, Joan; his parents; brothers-in-law, Robert Willox and Kenneth Schneider.
A viewing will be held at Mark’s Funeral & Cremation in Windsor on 26 April 2023 from 5 to 7 p.m. A
celebration of Allen’s life will be held at 11 a.m. on 27 Apr. 2023 at the First Lutheran Church in Ault,
Colorado. Allen will be laid to rest at Roselawn Cemetery in Fort Collins, Colorado.
