Obituary

Patrick (Pat) R. Cantrell passed away on Thursday, May 9, 2019 surrounded by his wife and sons at his home in Greeley, Colorado. He was born in Greeley on March 2, 1949 to John F. and Eula W. Cantrell. He was 70 years old. On July 18, 1968, he married Sandra (Herbst) Cantrell. Pat and Sandie lived in Weld County all of their lives and were dairy farmers in Gill and Kersey for more than 20 years. In 1993 Pat was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis and in 1990 had to sell their dairy and then moved to Kersey where they resided for 6 years. In 1996 they moved to Greeley where they have lived since.
The Cantrell’s have two sons. Tracy Cantrell and wife Kristine (Horst) who have three sons, Damen, Trevor, and Jacob, and live in Wilmington Ohio. Troy Cantrell and wife Mirriah (Moore) have daughters Sawyer and Marin and son Gunnar and live in Roggen Colorado. He is survived by two brothers, John W. and wife Linda of Kersey, Colorado and Charles R. Cantrell of Greeley. He has one sister, Mary and husband Richard Sitzman of LaSalle, Colorado.
Pat loved to fish and spent many days of his retired life fishing the streams and lakes of Colorado and Wyoming. His favorite thing was to spend the day on his pontoon boat with family or friends. He was still talking about fishing right up to the end of his life. His other passion was farming. It was his dream to be a farmer from his childhood and finally realized his dream when he bought his father and mother-law’s farm south of Kersey, Colorado. It was a great place to raise a family and a great community to be a part of. He was also a successful seed salesman and started Good Neighbor Seed & Supply selling seed and farm chemicals.
There will be a memorial service for Pat on Saturday, May 18 at the Platte Valley High School auditorium/cafeteria at 3:30 pm. Funeral services will be provided by Mark’s Funeral Service.
Memorial donations may be made to The Assistance Fund: WAYS TO GIVE IN HONOR OF PAT CANTRELL
The Assistance Fund helped Pat with his co-pay for his Multiple Sclerosis medication. It saved us thousands of dollars over the years. If you wish to make a memorial donation to The Assistance Fund to help someone else struggling to afford their medication, please do so on their website.
