Obituary for Leslie LaVerne Becker

Print
Leslie LaVerne Becker was born in Frannie, Wyoming on the 28th of November 1938. He passed in Fort Collins, Colorado, surrounded by love and peace on Sunday November 18, 2018.
Les was born to Alfonce and Iris Becker and was the youngest of six siblings. For the first 17 years, he lived in Frannie and he graduated from Deaver High School in 1956. He attended the University of Wyoming, graduating in 1960 with an Electrical Engineering degree. After graduation he worked for JT Banner and Associates for 10 years.
On July 24, 1965, he married Cecile Baumgartner. They moved to Windsor in 1970 and he put his Electrical Engineering degree to work for 27 years at Kodak. During his time at Kodak he only missed 2 days of work due to an illness and a broken ankle. His work ethic was impressive and he expected the same of those around him.
He is survived by his wife Cele and their 4 children: daughter Melisa, son-in-law David Videon, daughter Mindy, son Mike and his wife Jina and daughter Michelle. His grandchildren, or as Les referred to them, The Bums include: Tyler Story Becker, Samantha Videon, Noelle Videon, Jessy Videon, and Jordan Videon. His grandchildren called him Poppy and he often remarked that given the chance he would have skipped having kids and gone straight to the grandkids. Les is also survived by brother Arthur Becker and sister Margaret Heath and by many special cousins, nieces and nephews and many dear friends. He is preceded in death by his parents Alfonce and Iris Becker, brothers Eugene Becker, and Howard Becker, sister Madelyn Averett and granddaughter Brittney Nicole Coker.
Les’ selflessness and willingness to help anyone in need will be one of his greatest legacies. He would do anything for anyone and never asked for a cent in return. His mischievous smile, progressive thinking and intelligence are legend.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Les’ 80th birthday, November 28, 2018 at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church (1250 7th Street, Windsor Colorado). Services will begin at 11am and will be followed by a Celebration of a Great Life Lived.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Les’ name to the building fund of Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church or to the Windsor High School Students in Need Program.
