Obituary

Johann Frederich Dressel, 64, peacefully passed away at his home in Windsor, Colorado on November 9, 2020. He was known to his friends and family as John, Johnnie, Hans, Hansi, Haley, dad and Opa.

John was born on September 13, 1956, in Loveland, Colorado to Johann Wolfgang Dressel and Maria Dressel. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church. John attended Windsor High School (Class of 1974) where he met the love of his life, Debbie (Olson) Dressel. They were married on October 15, 1976 at Faith United Church of Christ. From this blessed union, they had two children Nick Dressel and Lauren Marie (Dressel) Sein.

After high school, John completed a 4-year apprenticeship program through Kodak Colorado Division where he became certified as an automated equipment mechanic. He was employed at Kodak Colorado Division, now Care Stream Health, for 47 years. He retired in August 2020 and was looking forward to enjoying down time with his family, fishing as much as possible, and enjoying some much-deserved rest and relaxation.

John was a great athlete in his youth. He loved to play softball where he made many life-long friends. John also enjoyed golf, fishing, hunting and water skiing. He had a green thumb and kept beautiful vegetable gardens, flower beds and the greenest grass in the neighborhood. He was also gifted cook and enjoyed sharing his gift with his family and friends.

Most of all John loved his family. His favorite place to be was at home, surrounded by his family and he was so proud of his children and grandchildren.

John is survived by his loving wife, Debbie; children Nick and spouse Sonja, of Chadron, Nebraska; Lauren and spouse, Parabol, of Thornton, Colorado; Grandchildren Aidan Wolfgang Dressel, Avarie Marie and Livia Leigh Sein; mother, Maria Dressel; sisters, Annemarie (Keith) Miller, Rosie (Jordan) Hecker; and many other members of his extended family. John was preceded in death by his father, Johann Wolfgang Dressel.

Visitation will be held from 3-5 p.m., Monday, November 16, 2020, at Marks Funeral Chapel, 9293 Eastman Park Drive, Windsor. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, November 17 at Bethel Lutheran Church, 328 Walnut Street, Windsor, CO.

Due to Covid restrictions, masks are required at the service. A live stream of the funeral will be broadcast at www.bethelwindsor.com.

John showed his love thorough charity and service. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts be made to the Windsor RE-4 School District Foundation and the Windsor Youth Recreation Program in care of Marks Funeral & Cremation Service, 9293 Eastman Park Dr., Windsor, CO 80550.

Hi Debbie and family. Although my time in Windsor was always shortened visits to family, I always made it a point to go into the shop area where John worked in C-20 to say 'hi' and catch up on all of you! He and I would talk about each of our kids and grandchildren. I looked forward to visiting with him!

Jamie and I spoke the other day about how John treated him so well - calling him 'Jamo' in his deep voice! I think he had nicknames for many people ......... which I believe was his way of being close to them.

Debbie, you and John have always been the 'truest of friends'. My heart goes out to you. I hope you reach out to me at some point to talk. You know I'll look you up when I visit the next time.

All my love to you and your family during this very difficult time.
