Obituary

Eugene W Ehrlich was born May 10 1947 to Walter and Rachel Ehrlich were he was the youngest of five children. He competed in football, basketball and track and graduated from Windsor High School in 1965 after graduating he tried out for the football team at the University of Northern Colorado, then Colorado State College. He played football at CSC until he was drafted to the United State Army in 1966. He was sent to Vietnam and served in the 25th Infantry Division, nicknamed “Tropic Lightning,” until 1969. Once out of the military he worked in business sales until he retired. Gene coached football for 14 years at Windsor High, 6 years at Frederick High, and 3 years at Severance Middle School. Coach “GENO” defined what it meant to be a Windsor Wizard. He also was a member of the Windsor Quarterback Club, 1993 Windsor High State Championship football team and served as the WHS Booster Club President for nearly 10 years. While with the Booster Club he created the First Community advertising brochure/programs spotlighting each sports or activities at the school. Gene was inducted in 2018 to Windsor High Athletic Booster Club Hall of Fame for his many years of mentoring young student/athletes. Gene had a smile that spoke a thousand words and he enjoyed every Friday meeting up with his ole buddies for lunch. Football – Family – Faith . Gene was married 31 years to Nancy and have three children and 6 grandchildren: Kelly Hess husband Bill son Alex, Allyson Tator husband Jason daughters Makayla, Caitlin, son Caden, Erich Ehrlich sons Marshall and Vance. Gene died August 2nd 2019 after a long courageous battle from ALS.
A celebration of life will be held Saturday August 10, 2019 from 4P.M.-8P.M. at The American Legion Post 109, 624 Ash Street, Windsor.
In Lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Windsor Scholarship Fund in Coach Geno's name or The ALS Association in care of Marks Funeral & Cremation Service, 9293 Eastman Park Drive, Windsor, CO. 80550

Nancy and family,
I am very sorry for the loss of beloved Geno. It was an honor and a pleasure to take care of him at the facility. I was on vacation when I heard of his passing and I am so sorry I couldn't be there for you. You are all incredibly special to us. Please keep in touch.
