Bonita “Bunny” (Peck) Sterk passed peacefully after an extended illness at Poudre Valley Hospital in Fort Collins on April 29, 2020, at the age of 72.

Bunny is survived by her husband, Dennis “Denny” Sterk of Windsor, CO; daughter and son-in-law, Shannon (Sterk) and Matthew Haberman, of Greeley, CO; son Ryan Sterk of Windsor, CO; grandsons Alexander Haberman and Isaac Haberman of Greeley, CO; brother, Joel Peck of Windsor, CO; sister, Kathy (Peck) and Tony Della Costa of Spring Hill, FL; and Jill (Peck) and Harold Hoftyzer of Orange City, IA; and a large, very close-knit extended family. She was preceded in death by her father, Roger Peck and her mother, Leta (Bethke) Peck, both of Windsor, CO.

Bunny was born on March 29, 1948, in Primghar, Iowa, to Roger and Leta Peck. She graduated from Hartley, Iowa, High School in 1966 and then attended Mankato Business College in Mankato, MN. She married Denny Sterk, her high school sweetheart, in September of 1967. They moved to California while he was in the Air Force. After several moves and several different jobs, they settled in Windsor, Colorado. She worked for Family Physicians of Windsor for 16 years. Bunny’s children and grandchildren remember her as a kind, loving, and extra-sharing person with a heart of gold.

For many years, Bunny rode with Denny on his motorcycle. They visited most of the United States and the Canadian Provinces, enjoying the National Parks and many other scenic areas. This slowed down once she discovered the joys of quilting. She was an avid and addicted quilter. Bunny was a member of the League of Northern Colorado Quilters (LNCQ). She loved the small groups that she was very active with. Great friendships bloomed with the passion of quilting.

Bunny was an active charter member of Windsor Park Baptist Church, currently known as Cornerstone Baptist Church. She was the church financial clerk for over 35 years and was known throughout the congregation for her unique style of piano playing.

A memorial is tentatively scheduled for the end of July or early August. Date and time to be announced. For updates on services, or to post online condolences, visit

Bunny was a very special person. I met her about 4 years ago via the local quilt league, and immediately felt a kinship with her. Her kindness, generosity and sense of humor were infectious and she was so fun to visit with. Bunny invited me into her home many times to sew with a group of other quilters and we always had a wonderful time. Sitting on the beautiful back patio for lunch was always a treat. I also have many of Bunny's recipes..what a fabulous cook! My heart goes out to your family. She was so proud of all of you and talked about all of you with great joy. With love and prayers, Kim Darrow

My sympathies are with Denny and the family. I have fond memories of Bunny working together with our Family Physicians of Windsor for her 16 years. She brought her smile to work every day. She was so much fun to be around. And she was a tireless worker. Bunny was a truly lovely person. I would appreciate being able to attend a celebration of her life
